The City of Covington will unveil a new family event this year–Field of Screams. On Saturday, October 14th, the Blue Swamp Nature Trail will transformed for even the youngest thrill-seekers.
The Mini Pumpkin Friendly Ghost Trail will be perfect for children eight and under. The path will include jack o’ lanterns, spiders, and a flying ghost. Along the trail, costumed volunteers will be handing out candy. At the end of the trail there will be a mini pumpkin patch and area for photographs.
For older children, the Scream Trail awaits. The public works department has set up a number of scenes along the trail which will be staffed by the Covington Fire and Police Departments. This trail is recommended for older children, teens, and adults.
Before the trails open, Field of Screams will kick off the day’s events at 2PM with free dance lessons and a group presentation. Jessica Boudreaux of Danscape Studio in Covington will be on hand to teach participants the moves to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Makeup artists will be on hand to make dancers looks as zombie-like as possible. The day will end with a group dance filmed by Perkins Productions. This will be a part of the larger “Thrill the World” program which is an international program about the dance inspiration of Michael Jackson. Those interested in participating in this group dance production should RSVP to the Covington Cultural Arts & Events office, 985.892.1873, or email@example.com.
