What to Do With the Kids This Weekend

StoryWalk for Families. 10AM-4PM. Abita Library. Storywalk® is a fun, educational activity that places a children’s story (literally a book taken apart) along a popular walking route in your community. Families enjoy the story at their own pace as they walk along from one page to the next. Questions and prompts are included at the bottom of each page to encourage participation. Featured book is: We Walk Through the Forest by Lisa Ferling.

Just One Block: Keep Abita Beautiful. 9AM-Noon. 23374 Burvant Street. Volunteers will start in the driveway at 23374 Burvant Street and continue down Level Street toward town. Wear boots and bring your own gloves and water bottle. Volunteers will receive a free pass to the Mystery House Museum, compliments of John Preble. Keep Abita Beautiful has baseball caps available for purchase for $20.00. Cash, check, or card.

Slidell Movie Night: The Lion King. 8:30-10:30PM. Heritage Park. Grab your lawn chairs and picnic blankets and head out to Heritage Park this summer for Slidell Movie Nights on select Saturday evenings. The movies, presented by the City of Slidell, begin at sunset, roughly 8:30 pm. Admission is free. Bring ice chests (and bug spray!) to the park to enjoy the free movie, and bring your appetite too, because concessions will be available for a nominal charge.
