Every year around May you start to see competitions for the “BEST” mom–on the radio, in magazine, and on other websites. After a lot of discussion at Northshore Parent Headquarters (a Facebook group), we decided that none of us feel like the best mom. Some days we rock and some days we don’t but most days we feel more like okay. We keep the kids alive even if they do subsist mostly on sandwiches and pretzels and don’t wear pants for the entire summer.
So rather than go looking for the BEST mom out there, we’ve decided that we’d like to find the okayest. The mom who gets it done even if it is at the last minute. Or bought at the store. Or while drinking a glass of wine. That’s the mom we’d like to hang out with and that’s the mom we’d most like to celebrate.
So tell us your best okay-mom stories. PLEASE don’t tell us anything illegal or that would be cause to call CPS. Thanks. Instead, tell us your best okay stories. The time you forgot your child’s birthday cake and had to celebrate their birthday with a “Happy Anniversary” cake from Walmart. Or the time you tried to walk your twins on a leash and they walked in opposite directions until they fell down and started crying (that’s a completely hypothetical story BTW **cough**).
So tell us your stories. The winner will receive $100 to Another Broken Egg which has just opened in Mandeville and a free haircut and product from Lacey Stevens Salon in Covington (after you get this fab haircut other okay moms might not be able to recognize you).
The winner of this contest will be chosen by celebrity judge, Trina Scott Edwards, a Louisiana mom of three, realtor, and star of the reality program The Governor’s Wife. We are completely thrilled that Trina has agreed to judge this contest for us!!!
Please use the form below to tell us your okayest mom moments–don’t worry, you can’t scare us!! The writers of Northshore Parent will review the entries and the winner will be chosen by Trina. Entries close on June 3rd and the winner will be announced June 6th.
