The Covington St. Patrick’s Day parade is back for its second year and this time with a longer route!
Last year business owners in downtown Covington decided that the area was long-overdue for an organized celebration for St. Patrick’s Day. The event was such a huge success that this year it will feature both a larger Krewe and an extended route! The English Tea Room will be serving corned beef and cabbage for the day and other businesses will be open along the route and participating in the day’s festivities.
This year the parade is set for March 12th at Noon. It will start at the Columbia Street Tap Room and will end at Jewel Cigar. The full route is detailed on the flyer below.
The festivities will begin with a blessing from Father Peter of St. Peter’s Church. The parade will include a wide variety of participants including Mardi Gras Indians, The Covington Celtic Club, The Fools of Misrule, and the Northshore Performing Arts Society. The celebrity grand marshall will be noted food critic Tom Fitzmorris.
I know I’m excited about this and I bet many of you are as well! See you on the 12th!!
