Parents to Know: Tiffany King

Tiffany King is one busy yet inspiring momma. A mother of three boys, Tiffany has established herself as a driving force in the local community and blogosphere. Tiffany runs We Five Kings, a fashion and lifestyle blog. In addition to her very successful blog and its ever-growing following, she also has a list of other hobbies and duties. Tiffany works with the Jr. League of Covington, the Little Black Dress project, the Children’s museum of St. Tammany, and is an event coordinator for Pelican Athletic Club. As if that weren’t enough, Tiffany also works as a free-lance writer when she isn’t empowering women on her own website and Instagram. I sat down with Tiffany and asked her a few questions about herself and her business.

Northshore Parent: How did you get into this business?

Tiffany King: After being laid off from my job I took up freelance writing with Northshore Parent and the owner, Katy, encouraged me to start my own site just two years ago. What started as a food blog turned into fashion when I found that was where my true passion lies. It’s about more than just image for me. My blog is about empowerment as well as my journey through parenthood. My site’s motto can best be summed up as “Wear the damn dress” (and boy does she wear the dresses!)

NSP: Do you have any advice for how to strike a balance between business and home life?

Tiffany: I admit that I don’t have it all together and I struggles just like everyone else with balance. Having a husband who respects my business for what it is makes accomplishing what I do that much easier. Learning to say no can improve the balance as well as scheduling for everything from meals, to work, to play. Scheduling play and fun is equally as important as work in my opinion.

NSP: What is your favorite thing about living on Northshore?

Hands down, the green here on the Northshore. The way the community here embraces trees is what I treasure most about it. Driving across the causeway to see the lines of green awaiting on the northern side makes me happy to call this place home.

NSP: What is you favorite family activity on Northshore?

Tiffany: Our favorite things to do on the Northshore include brunches together at Hambone, enjoying all the parks the Northshore has to offer, and visiting the children’s museum on Koop Drive.

NSP: Tell us your favorite local business.

Just a few of my favorite local businesses include Hambone, Andrea’s Vinyl Shop, and Golden Lily.

NSP: What are your biggest influences?

While her influence change depending on the stages of her life, she finds blog inspiration from Brittany Sjogren, Loverly Grey, and Ashley Dorough. Her biggest fashion influence is Michael Kors.

NSP: What is your favorite king cake?

Tiffany: Sucre

NSP: Where are you from? When did you arrive on the Northshore?

I grew up in Kenner and later attended college in Hammond. After graduating I wanted to split the distance between my family in New Orleans and my job in Hammond; the Northshore was the perfect balance.

I don’t know about y’all but I’m tired just reading about everything Tiffany does! We love her here at Northshore Parent and we’re pretty sure the rest of the Northshore does as well.
