OXtober Fest Covington
If you’ve ever lamented the fact that there’s no proper Oktoberfest here on the Northshore, weep no more! A group of Covington citizens have turned their love of the The Boys and Girls Club of Covington into a fun, beer-filled fundraiser sure to be a good time for everyone: OXtober Fest.
The name of the event is an ode to its location–Ox Lots are the name of the little parking lots that are scattered throughout downtown Covington. A unique feature of the downtown Covington area, these lots were originally designed to be mini market places where people could exchange their wares. These days they are primarily used as public parking much to the delight of anyone who has attempted to park in downtown New Orleans and ended up screaming at random street signs in the process.
Participating breweries for the 2019 event include:
Tickets are available for purchase on their website. You must be 21 to drink. Tickets holders will receive a tasting mug and tastings from all the participating breweries. There will also be live music and food available for purchase so even your friends who don’t drink beer can come on down and enjoy the festivities which run from 3-6PM at the Covington Trailhead. Families are welcome and there will be a face painter on site and snowballs available for purchase as well. A TV trailer broadcasting the LSU game will be on site courtesy of Patrick McMath.
